FAQ

Questions patients ask first

Answers about telehealth, self-pay care, testing, programs, and what to expect when working with Dr. Schwartz.

What is functional and integrative medicine?

Care that looks at the whole person rather than one symptom or diagnosis. We consider how hormones, metabolism, nutrition, gut health, sleep, stress, inflammation, lifestyle, infections, and environment may be connected — and build an individualized plan on top of appropriate conventional care.

Who is a good fit for this practice?

Adults who do not feel like themselves — including persistent fatigue, brain fog, hormonal or thyroid concerns, metabolic or weight changes, sleep or digestive symptoms, Long COVID or complex illness, or several seemingly unrelated symptoms with normal routine testing. You do not need to know the cause before scheduling.

Do you replace my primary care physician?

No. Continue routine preventive care, screenings, vaccinations, and urgent or acute care with your primary care physician and specialists. This practice complements your existing care team.

Do you accept insurance?

This is a self-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly. Documentation for possible out-of-network reimbursement may be provided, but reimbursement is not guaranteed. Labs, medications, and imaging may be covered separately depending on your plan.

Are laboratory tests included?

No. Laboratory and specialty testing are not included in consultation or program fees. Testing is recommended only when clinically appropriate, with purpose and estimated cost discussed before ordering.

Are supplements required?

No. Recommendations are individualized and may include nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, movement, supplements, medications, or referrals. We explain the rationale and consider your preferences, medications, history, and budget.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Consultations and program appointments are conducted by secure telehealth. You must be physically located in Florida at the time of your appointment. Some concerns may still require in-person examination, labs, imaging, or coordination with a local provider.

In which states can you see patients?

Care is provided only where Dr. Schwartz holds an active license at the time of your appointment. Currently: Florida. Contact the practice before scheduling if you are outside Florida.

How long is the initial consultation?

The Comprehensive Root Cause Consultation is approximately 75–90 minutes, with medical records and prior labs reviewed in advance when submitted on time.

What should I prepare before my appointment?

Complete intake forms and share current medications and supplements, relevant laboratory results, imaging or specialist reports, a brief symptom timeline, medical and family history, and your health goals and questions.

What happens after the first consultation?

You receive initial recommendations and next steps, which may include nutrition and lifestyle support, supplements or medications when appropriate, lab or specialty testing, referrals, or enrollment in a Road to Rebalance Program for ongoing care and protocol adjustments.

Does This Sound Familiar

You have been told your labs are normal, and there is nothing more to explore.

Rather than treating each symptom in isolation, we look at how hormones, metabolism, nutrition, gut health, inflammation, sleep, stress and environment may be connected, and where the evidence points next.
