Energy & Clarity

Why fatigue and brain fog persist

Persistent tiredness and poor mental clarity are among the most common — and most misunderstood — concerns in functional medicine. They rarely have a single cause.

We explore sleep, hormones, thyroid function, blood sugar, inflammation, gut health, nutrient status, post-viral recovery, and chronic stress to identify patterns that may be keeping you from feeling restored.

Fatigue

Tired no matter how much you rest.

Cognitive

Brain fog that affects daily life.

Recovery

Slow bounce-back after exertion.

Wired & tired

Exhausted but unable to wind down.

Where We Begin

Comprehensive Root CauseConsultation

A single, unhurried telehealth appointment where your whole history is reviewed: records, prior labs, medications and supplements. We identify what may need further evaluation.

How It Connects

Systems we evaluate in fatigue care

01

Sleep architecture

Quantity of sleep matters less than quality. We assess nonrestorative sleep, apnea risk factors, and circadian disruption.

02

Metabolic & thyroid drivers

Blood sugar swings, insulin resistance, and subclinical thyroid patterns can drain energy and cloud thinking.

03

Inflammation & immune load

Chronic immune activation — including post-viral states — can cause profound fatigue and cognitive slowing.

04

Gut–brain connection

Digestive symptoms, microbiome imbalance, and nutrient absorption issues often accompany brain fog.

Common Concerns

Symptoms we explore in fatigue care

You do not need a formal diagnosis before scheduling. These are common patterns patients describe when fatigue or brain fog may be part of the picture.

Fatigue

Tired no matter how much you rest.

Waking exhausted, needing caffeine to function, or crashing by mid-afternoon despite a reasonable sleep schedule.

Cognitive

Brain fog that affects daily life.

Poor focus, word-finding difficulty, slower processing, or feeling mentally dulled compared to your baseline.

Recovery

Slow bounce-back after exertion.

Exercise, travel, or stress that used to be manageable now requires days to recover from.

Wired & tired

Exhausted but unable to wind down.

Feeling depleted yet restless — especially in the evening — with sleep that does not restore you.

Our Approach

How we address fatigue & brain fog

Care is individualized. Testing, nutrition, lifestyle, and treatment recommendations depend on your history, goals, and what the evidence supports.

01

Pattern recognition

Your consultation maps symptom timing, triggers, prior workups, and what has — or has not — helped so far.

02

Layered investigation

Testing is recommended strategically based on your presentation, not as a blanket panel.

03

Sustainable protocols

Nutrition, sleep, stress, movement, and targeted therapies are introduced in a sequence you can maintain.

The Difference

Symptom dismissal vs. thorough exploration

Fatigue and brain fog are often attributed to stress or aging alone. We take a deeper look when something else may be contributing.

Our Philosophy

When you are told you are fine but you do not feel fine, that disconnect deserves careful attention.

Clarity starts with understanding what may be driving your symptoms — not dismissing them.

Common Questions

Questions patients often ask

Do you replace my primary care physician?

No. Continue routine preventive, screening and acute care with your existing team. This care complements it.

Are supplements or testing required?

No. Recommendations are individualized, and testing is suggested only when clinically appropriate, with purpose and cost discussed first.

Where is telehealth available?

Care is provided by secure telehealth where Dr. Schwartz holds an active license, currently Florida. You must be physically located in Florida at the time of your appointment. Additional states may be added.

Could this be Long COVID or chronic fatigue?

Possibly — and it may also overlap with other contributors. We evaluate your full history rather than fitting you into a single label.
