Thyroid Health

When thyroid symptoms outpace your labs

Thyroid hormones regulate metabolism, energy, temperature, mood, hair, skin, and digestion. Many patients experience clear symptoms while standard TSH screening returns 'normal.'

We review prior thyroid labs in context, assess conversion and autoimmune patterns when indicated, and explore how thyroid function intersects with stress, gut health, and other hormones.

Energy & weight

Slowed metabolism signals.

Hair & skin

Changes in appearance.

Mood & cognition

Brain fog and low mood.

Prior treatment

Still symptomatic on medication.

How It Connects

Systems we evaluate in thyroid care

01

TSH vs. full picture

Why a normal TSH does not always mean optimal thyroid function for how you feel.

02

Autoimmune thyroid

Hashimoto's and related patterns that cause fluctuating symptoms over time.

03

Conversion & nutrients

How T4 converts to active T3 — and when selenium, iron, or inflammation impede that process.

04

Systemic overlap

Thyroid symptoms that mimic or amplify adrenal, sex hormone, or metabolic concerns.

Common Concerns

Symptoms we explore in thyroid care

You do not need a formal diagnosis before scheduling. These are common patterns patients describe when thyroid function may be part of the picture.

Energy & weight

Slowed metabolism signals.

Unexplained weight gain, constipation, cold intolerance, or fatigue despite adequate sleep.

Hair & skin

Changes in appearance.

Hair thinning, dry skin, brittle nails, or eyebrow thinning that developed gradually.

Mood & cognition

Brain fog and low mood.

Depression-like symptoms, poor concentration, or feeling mentally slowed — sometimes attributed to stress alone.

Prior treatment

Still symptomatic on medication.

Taking levothyroxine with improved labs but persistent symptoms — a common reason patients seek deeper evaluation.

Our Approach

How we address thyroid concerns

Care is individualized. Testing, nutrition, lifestyle, and treatment recommendations depend on your history, goals, and what the evidence supports.

01

Lab review in depth

We analyze prior thyroid panels, timing of draws, medications, and symptom correlation.

02

Expanded testing when indicated

Free T3, antibodies, and related markers when they change the clinical picture — discussed before ordering.

03

Collaborative management

We complement your existing prescribers and primary care team; medication decisions are made thoughtfully and individually.

The Difference

TSH-only screening vs. symptom-informed thyroid care

Many patients are told nothing is wrong because TSH is in range. We listen when your experience says otherwise.

Our Philosophy

Thyroid health is not a single lab value. It is how your metabolism, energy, and resilience feel day to day.

We help you understand whether thyroid function is part of your picture — and what to do about it.

Common Questions

Questions patients often ask

Do you replace my primary care physician?

Are supplements or testing required?

No. Recommendations are individualized, and testing is suggested only when clinically appropriate, with purpose and cost discussed first.

Where is telehealth available?

Care is provided by secure telehealth where Dr. Schwartz holds an active license, currently Florida. You must be physically located in Florida at the time of your appointment. Additional states may be added.

Will you change my thyroid medication?

Medication recommendations are individualized and made in collaboration with your care team when you are already prescribed thyroid therapy.
